Are you familiar with the Maatjesfestival yet? No? High time to work on that! After all, this year we are celebrating the 20th edition of the festival. We promise to make it something great!

Every year we celebrate the arrival of the ‘new’ Dutch Maatjes (herring). These are basically there all year round, but are only at their best (read: greasiest and with most flavour) a few weeks a year. The ‘Maatjes’ season usually runs from mid-June to the end of July at the latest. So mark it in your agenda: Mer du Nord’s Maatjesfestival on Sunday 23 June, from 2pm to 6pm. Place to be: St Catherine’s Square. Buddies, Buddies, Music and aMbiance: what more could you want?
